Packing for a Southeast Asia holiday

A five or six night trip to Thailand or Malaysia rarely needs a large suitcase. Most itineraries move between two cities, so a cabin bag plus one check-in bag per couple is usually enough, and it makes SIC transfers much easier.
Clothing
Light cotton or linen works best. Both destinations are humid through most of the year, and hotel laundry is inexpensive if you need it mid-trip.
Carry one set of modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees. Temple visits, including those on the Bangkok half-day city tour, require it.
Documents
Keep your passport, tickets and hotel confirmations in one folder, plus a digital copy on your phone. If your package includes visa on arrival, carry printed copies of your return ticket and hotel voucher.
Baggage allowance
Allowances differ by airline and fare. Our Kuala Lumpur package, for example, includes 30 KG check-in and 7 KG cabin baggage. Check your own allowance before you pack, since excess baggage at the airport is expensive.
